MANILA -- Converge earned a measure of consolation after missing out on the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup playoffs, as they trounced Blackwater 136-122 in their final game of the conference.
Seven players scored in double-digits for the FiberXers on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, where they claimed their fifth win of the Commissioner's Cup.
At 5-7, Converge finished in ninth place -- just behind the quartet of Magnolia, TNT, Phoenix and San Miguel which all had 6-5 win-loss slates.
Juan Gomez de Liano led the way for Converge with 25 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Justine Baltazar had a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double as he missed just one field goal in the contest.
After settling for a 59-58 advantage at the break, the FiberXers steadily pulled away in the second half and built a double-digit lead midway through the final frame, 110-100, off a Mikey Williams jumper.
It was all Converge from there, and their lead reached 19 points, 130-111, thanks to two charities by Gomez de Liano with 50 seconds to go.
Robert Upshaw III had 45 points and 18 rebounds in the loss, but Sedrick Barefield (20) and Abu Tratter (13) were the only other Blackwater players in double-digits.
The Bossing ended the conference with a 2-10 win-loss record.
