MANILA — Meralco has secured a twice-to-beat advantage in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals.
This, as the Bolts handed Terrafirma a 44-point beating, 113-69, for the playoff bonus in the next round, Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Seven Meralco players were in double-digit scoring, led by import Marvin Jones and Chris Newsome who had 14 points each. CJ Cansino helped with 13 points and four rebounds, while Bong Quinto, Brandon Bates, and Javee Mocon had 11 markers each.
Bates added 12 rebounds to his name, while Chris Banchero completed the supporting cast with 10 points and four assists.
The Dyip played without their import, Mubashar Ali, who was reportedly out because of food poisoning.
Paolo Hernandez led the all-Filipino side with 15 points and six rebounds, while Maverick Ahanmisi added 12 points, and top rookie Geo Chiu had 10 markers and 12 boards.
