Wind signal no. 1 raised as LPA develops into Tropical Depression Luis

MANILA (UPDATED) -  Tropical wind signal no. 1 has been raised in Polillo Islands, northern Camarines Norte, and northern Catanduanes after the low pressure area east of Southern Luzon developed into Tropical Depression Luis Saturday evening.

 Strong winds may be experienced in these areas.

 As of 10 p.m., the tropical depression was located 360 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte.

  It has maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour with gustiness up to 55 kilometers and is moving westward at 15 kph.

 Luis is forecast to remain offshore east of Luzon and follow a recurving track.

 It may intensify into a tropical storm on Monday, August 3, while recurving. Thereafter, it will gradually weaken until it becomes a remnant low pressure area on Wednesday evening, August 5.

 The weather disturbance may bring moderate to heavy rains in Isabela, Quirino, and Aurora from Sunday evening to Monday evening.

 Scattered rains may also be experienced in other areas over the eastern part of Luzon.
