Maymay (international codename: Kujira) has intensified into a tropical storm and may make landfall over Ilocos Sur or La Union by Wednesday afternoon or evening, weather bureau PAGASA said.
As of 4 a.m, the center of Tropical Storm Maymay was estimated based on all available data at 170 km West Northwest of Bacnotan, La Union.
LPA off Northern Luzon develops into Tropical Depression Maymay
Maymay is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph, with strong winds extending outwards up to 180 km from the center.

Maymay is expected to bring 100-200 mm of rain in La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, and Zambales, and 50-100 mm of rain in Ilocos Sur, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pampanga, and Bulacan.
PAGASA said 50-100 mm of rain is expected over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro due to the southwest monsoon.
Maymay is forecast to remain as a tropical storm as it approaches the Philippine landmass. After making landfall, it will weaken into a tropical depression by Thursday morning and may be downgraded further into a low pressure area by Thursday afternoon or evening.
DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Obet Badrina said another weather disturbance, Typhoon Dolphin, was located 1,845 km east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. Packing 165 kph winds and 205 kph gusts, the typhoon may pull Maymay eastward where it may dissipate over the Luzon landmass.
Badrina said Dolphin may graze or even enter the Philippine area of responsibility.
