MANILA — Tropical storm Maymay, with international name Kujira, may make landfall over Ilocos Sur or La Union on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning, according to PAGASA.
The storm has been moving erratically over the northern part of the West Philippine Sea.
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, it was located 185 kilometers east northwest of Bacnotan, La Union.
It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour with gusts up to 80 kph and is moving northward

Strong winds may be experienced in these areas in the coming hours, with minimal to moderate impacts expected.
Maymay will pick up speed and eventually move eastward and may make landfall over Ilocos Sur or La Union later this afternoon or evening.
It will weaken steadily while crossing the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon and may be downgraded into a low pressure area by Thursday afternoon or evening, August 6.

From Friday, Habagat, enhanced by the approaching Typhoon Dolphin, will prevail over Luzon and Visayas.
Heavy to intense rains are expected in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro while moderate to heavy rains are likely in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Bantangas, and Antique.
The risk of widespread and serious flooding and landslides is high across many parts of Luzon.
Outside the Philippine area of responsibility, Typhoon Dolphin was located 1,765 kilometers east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
It has sustained winds of 155 kph and gusts up to 190 kph. It is moving west northwestward at 15 kph.
PAGASA is not ruling out the possibility of Dolphin entering the PAR but it will remain far from land. However, it will enhance the Habagat through the weekend.
The public is advised to continue monitoring updates on the weather and take the necessary preparations.
