After the career talk at Amurao High concludes, facilitated by Beth (Charlie Dizon) and featuring Alice (Janella Salvador), Mel (Sue Ramirez), and Erica (Kaila Estrada) as the esteemed speakers, Erica loudly informs them that Edong (Jake Cuenca) survived the police’s previous pursuit.
The group’s shock lingers as they sit in the guest area to supposedly enjoy some food, with flashes of the bitter past resurfacing in their minds. In a sudden moment, the deafening silence is broken when Alice accidentally drops a glass.
Deeply unsettled by the unfolding events, Alice rushes to leave Amurao High, with the rest of MABEL following her, eager to talk things through.
Beth voices her doubt about Edong being Alive, but Erica counters with proof: the murder of Assistant Warden William Ayoc (Paolo Serrano), Edong’s recent call to Lucas (JM de Guzman) after killing Steve (Christian Ty), and the death of Dolores Candelaria (Malou de Guzman).
Realizing the place isn’t ideal for their conversation, they move to Vangie’s café. There, they speculate further about Edong’s latest crimes, including the possibility that he staged the fight between Beth and Angelo (Marlo Mortel) in the forest by sending them false text messages.
As Erica goes into more detail about what they need to do to protect themselves from Edong, such as informing their families and the police’s hesitation to take action, Beth grows frustrated.
Seeing that there may be no options left, Erica suggests that they finally tell the truth about how their false statements and her silence during Edong’s trial for Louisa’s (Mutya Orquia) death led to his wrongful imprisonment, emphasizing that Edong was wronged by them, the town of Amurao, the police, and the law.
Sadly for Erica, Beth and Mel still disagree with the idea. Erica confronts Beth, pointing out how she keeps using Louisa as an excuse instead of owning up to her mistakes.
Beth takes this as an attack, arguing that from the moment they reunited, Erica has been pushing the narrative that Beth was the one who made the wrong choice. Erica denies this, clarifying that they are all accountable for what happened to Edong.
When Mel admits that she has a lot to lose if she tells the truth publicly, Beth’s annoyance escalates, and she sarcastically calls her out as the friend who was always in the spotlight. Offended, Mel points out Beth’s pettiness over the words she had earlier said.
The back-and-forth arguments between Erica, Beth, and Mel intensify until Alice finally yells for them to calm down. In the end, they fail to reach a consensus, and the arrival of Anton (Jameson Blake) cuts their discussion short.
What would be the final plans of Erica, Beth, Mel, and Alice about Edong? Find out in “What Lies Beneath,” airing weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, ALLTV, and iWant.
