Still riding the momentum of widespread appreciation for her eye-opening role as young Liezel in “What Lies Beneath,” Kolette Madelo takes on the task of selecting her three favorite scenes—turning points that prompted viewers to see the narrative as more than what meets the eye.
Proving herself a promising artist who delves deeply into the meaning of her character’s actions, Kolette begins her list with an emotionally heavy scene, in which the exciting plans of Louisa (Mutya Orquia) and Liezel to leave Amurao together are tragically destroyed by Liezel’s father, Pastor Samuel.
At first, Liezel tries to deny Pastor Samuel’s conviction that she was messaging Louisa. But as his criticisms intensify, she finds herself cornered, attempting to fight back and defend her relationship with Louisa.
She is then faced with a harrowing dilemma from her father: leave Louisa for a peaceful future, or run away with her, knowing that Pastor Samuel’s evil intentions will follow them wherever they go.
For her second and third choices, it all comes down to one thing—her most notable scenes are those in which she fully felt the moment of grief through crying.
In particular, young Liezel’s most intense weeping occurs during the unforeseen murder of Louisa. Thanks to Kolette’s dedication to mastering this challenging aspect of her character, she was able to move viewers’ hearts as well.
Tune in to more of Kolette’s touching performances in “What Lies Beneath,” airing weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Channel sa ALLTV, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), and iWant.
