At OK Hospital, Elvie (Sharmaine Suarez) continues to spiral into depressive episodes after her encounter with Mia (Anne Curtis), whom she mistook as her daughter. Nurse Olivia (Maricel Laxa) believes Patrick (Joshua Garcia) might be able to calm her down, since Elvie often repeats that she wants to introduce her daughter to him.

Patrick gives Elvie her medicine and then asks about her daughter, only to be surprised when Elvie mentions the truth that her child will never come because she is already dead.

A flashback brings us to the market where Elvie worked as a fish vendor. Her daughter Jana (Charlie Dizon) arrived with a birthday gift, a shawl she had bought so her mother could use it when she visits her in London. Elvie reacted with anger, upset that Jana spent too much for just a shawl. She also disapproved of her plan to work abroad. Unable to understand Jana’s intentions, Elvie thought her daughter was showing off and believed that her decision to work abroad stemmed from shame over her job as a fish vendor. Jana, in tears, explained that she has never been ashamed of her mother and that she only hoped her efforts would be appreciated since she was finally capable of providing for the two of them. Jana walked way crying, but chaos soon erupted in the market. Elvie’s world collapsed when she found her daughter lying lifeless on the street, bloodied after a tragic accident.

Back in the present, Elvie breaks down, sobbing with regret and wishing she had been a better mother. Patrick watches silently, remembering his own mother’s plea that he should always protect his brother Matmat (Carlo Aquino).
