MANILA — Former Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday was proclaimed as mayor of Naga City, a post once held by her husband the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

Robredo secured a landslide win against her rivals Toots De Quiros Louie Ortega and Ganda Abrazado.

Her running-mate Camarines Sur Third District Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr. won the vice mayoral candidacy. Bordado was a longtime vice mayor under Robredo's husband.

Robredo made history as the first female mayor of Naga.

Robredo promised to address the grievances raised during the campaign by civil society groups and people’s organizations, such as the proper spending of city funds.

She acknowledged that there was much to be done, but said that her husband’s initiatives would be a great guide.
