MANILA — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday reported that 2,215 families, or 6,929 individuals, have been displaced due to the combined effects of Typhoons Luis and Maymay and the southwest monsoon (habagat).
Maymay makes landfall over Ilocos Sur, may weaken while crossing Northern Luzon
The displaced individuals are being sheltered in 39 evacuation centers after the weather systems triggered flooding in 83 areas across the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR), according to the NDRRMC’s 6 a.m. situation report.
At least 12 houses were reported damaged.
A total of 23,946 families, or 80,633 individuals, have been affected by the inclement weather in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BAR, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
The government has so far provided P1.38 million in assistance to the affected population.
As of this writing, the NDRRMC has not reported any deaths, injuries, or missing persons.
