Another heated altercation erupted between Sam (Julia Montes) and Ricardo (Edu Manzano) after the planned demolition in Ginintuang Lupa was brought up during their family dinner.
Since she was not joining them for dinner, Sam immediately excused herself upon arrival and was about to go to her room after greeting her parents and her sister, Max (Arci Muñoz). However, she bristled when she overheard her father and sister discussing the aborted demolition in Ginintuang Lupa, with Ricardo telling Max that he would be happy to oblige if the residents wanted a bloodbath.
This prompted her to stop in her tracks and interrupt their conversation, saying she had thought the eviction of the residents had been postponed or even called off. Ricardo was visibly irked by her outburst and lashed out, demanding to know why she cared when, in his view, the people living there were nothing but trash.
As Sam insisted that the residents should not be forced out of their homes so abruptly, Ricardo flew into a rage and reiterated that the people of Ginintuang Lupa were as heartless as they were worthless to society.
Being the soft-hearted that she is, Sam argued, “Maaari hong hikahos sila sa buhay, pero tao pa rin naman po sila. Sana ituring po natin silang gano’n.”
Ricardo fired back, “Pinakikinabangan na ang pag-aari ko. They don’t deserve any mercy. So, if you don’t know enough, it’s best you shut up.”
Left speechless, Sam hurried to her room. Her mother, Isobel (Carmi Martin), was about to go after her, but Ricardo stopped her. Instead, they let Max speak to her sister.
