The missing Lara (Bela Padilla) sneaks inside Barangay Surga with the intent to kill Datu Rahman (Jaime Fabregas). She swiftly locates the Datu and brings a knife to his neck, completely waking him.
Lara’s repeated claims of how Datu Rahman murdered her parents led to his confusion until Lara showed a family photo and mentioned when he saw him at the 1997 Cabatangon Medical Mission. In a flash, Datu Rahman remembers seeing a child crying, unaware that it was Lara all along.
Jamilah (Barbie Imperial) steps into the room, desperate to save her father, but Lara threatens to kill the Datu if she gets too close.
The moment Lara expresses her desire for revenge against Datu Rahman for ruining her life, he finally tells the truth. It was actually Colonel Marcelino (Ryan Eigenmann), General Carillo’s (Bodjie Pascua) half-brother, who planned to ambush the medical mission.
In the face of Lara’s denial, Datu Rahman goes on to explain that he was fooled by the colonel, who recruited him and many more by tricking them into believing that they were building a better nation. For this reason, they obeyed orders to attack villages and spread illegal firearms, not knowing that the colonel and his accomplices were just acquiring money and power.
Immediately after Datu Rahman learned of the scheme to target the medical mission, he ran after them in an effort to prevent them from succeeding, but it was already too late. Upon his arrival, blood-covered corpses were scattered, as well as Lara’s parents, whom he just wanted to check for any sign of life.
He then fled and hid at Isla Damai, where his name was changed from Hassan Wadi to Datu Rahman. Hearing every word, Lara tearfully drops her knife and sprints away.
