On the May 16 episode of the hit community singing game show “Everybody, Sing!,” “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” alums Lella Ford and Joaquin Arce joined the Unkabogable host Vice Ganda and sang their hearts out in melodic fun.
To further test their musical memory, LelQuin took on a round of “Song Association” in this ABS-CBN Studios exclusive.
Starting with the word “good,” Joaquin belted out the line “Goodbye everybody, I’ve got to go” from the 1975 classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. He followed it up with Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” when the same word appeared again. He then matched “everybody” with the Backstreet Boys’ 1997 dance-pop anthem “Everybody.”
Keeping the good vibes alive, Lella Ford hummed Nicki Minaj’s “The Night Is Still Young” when prompted with the word “night.” She then switched genres, choosing Moira Dela Torre’s “Before It Sinks In” for the keyword “before.” Joaquin followed with Conan Gray’s “Heather,” singing the line “Wish I Were Heather” when given the word “wish.”
From Western hits, Lella and Joaquin also showcased their wide knowledge of the OPM genre. For the term “masaya,” Lella linked it to the line “Ang pag-ibig ganyan talaga, masaya” from Bamboo’s “Masaya.” She also named Rivermaya’s “Umaaraw, Umuulan” when prompted with the word “araw.”
Joaquin couldn’t help but recall one of the songs the housemates composed during their “PBB Collab 2.0” days. Their Christmas carol “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo” quickly came to mind when he heard the word “ikaw.” Later, he sang Kitchie Nadal’s iconic single “Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin” in response to the prompts “sabihin” and “pag-ibig.”
Leaning into more Filipino bands, Lella played the game with ease. For the word “tayo,” she sang the line “Kung pwede pa ba tayo” from Soapdish’s “Tensionado.” When given the keyword “ako,” she thought of the karaoke staple “Ako’y Sa’yo, Ika’y Akin” by IAXE.
From Rivermaya’s “Hinahanap-Hanap Kita,” Joaquin responded with the line “Sa umaga’t sa gabi, sa bawat minutong lumilipas” when the word “gabi” came up. Meanwhile, hearing the word “mahal” prompted Lella to sing “Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako” by KZ Tandingan.
