Liam (Donny Pangilinan) promises to reinvent and breathe new life into La Playa Roja in the March 5 episode of “Roja.”
Earlier, Liam asked Olsen (Kyle Echarri) for a favor: to have one last meal with his family, especially Greta (Lorna Tolentino), before surrendering her to the authorities, and Olsen agreed. As Liam prepares for the meal, he reflects on Greta’s pleas not to turn her in yet, her tears, and the moment he reminded her that yielding herself to the authorities is the right thing to do.
Later, Liam, Greta, and Magnus (Raymond Bagatsing), together with Wendy (Janice de Belen) and Olsen, enjoy the Tuna Wellington that Liam prepared. Greta recalls how Liam’s grandmother used to cook just as well as he does, delighted that Liam inherited his culinary skills from her. Meanwhile, Magnus looks back on the time he and Liam argued about his pursuit of taking culinary classes in New York.
Before the siege, Liam was supposed to head overseas, as he had been accepted into the school. Magnus was completely against the idea, even questioning Liam’s abilities. Now, Magnus is full of regret for what he said back then, “I’m sorry, son. Your father’s a fool. I looked down on your passion for cooking, but this is to die for. And I promise, from here on in, I will support your passion. All the way 100%.” He apologizes to Liam.
The latter delightfully accepts the apology and even promises something big. “Bubuhayin ko ang La Playa Roja. I will open a new restaurant at the resort. Alam kong mahalaga ’yon para sa pamilya natin. Yes, maraming nangyari, pero mas maraming good memories kami ni Olsen doon.” he said, to which Olsen agreed, recalling the times he and Liam trained for fights under Lolo Ben’s (Levi Ignacio) supervision.
In the middle of their meal, Liam proposes a toast, joined by Wendy, Olsen, Magnus, and Greta. As they eat in silence, Wendy looks at Greta, doubts still etched on her face.
