Vincent (Paulo Avelino) refuses to side with Jaqueline's (Zsa Zsa Padilla) defense of Arthur (John Arcilla) in the March 17 episode of “The Alibi”.
When Arthur revealed at his birthday party that he would be appointing Walter (Sam Milby) as the new CEO of Cabrera News, Vincent was stunned. He had previously made a deal with Arthur that he would do everything to raise the company’s numbers within three months in exchange for becoming the head.
After the announcement, Vincent immediately approaches Arthur to confront him about what happened. “May usapan tayo,” he starts, to which Arthur responds that he does not take orders from anyone, especially Vincent, adding that he never promised anything. Vincent tries to make Arthur realize the efforts he had made for the company, even going so far as to protect important names from being exposed in various issues.
“I sacrificed my dignity to protect you! All for Cabrera News!” Vincent cries out. Arthur tells him that he never asked for such a sacrifice, insisting that Vincent acted of his own free will, and Walter is a better choice than him. Vincent refuses to believe this, pointing out that Arthur knows deep down who the stronger candidate truly is.
Vincent scoffs when Arthur tells him to simply be grateful. He argues that no matter what he does for their family, it will never be enough for his father. Though Arthur gave him his name, the way he treats Vincent is far from family-like, even after fully adopting him. Their exchange escalates into a heated argument, prompting Arthur to grab Vincent by the collar.
Jaqueline (Zsa Zsa Padilla) arrives, stopping the two from causing a commotion that might attract the attention of the guests. Later on, she speaks with Vincent, convincing him further that Arthur has treated him as his own. “You know how your dad is. He’s just being tough on you,” she tries to ease him. But Vincent counters, “Most of the time, the lie we tell ourselves is the lie that hurts us the most,” leaving Jaqueline in tears.
