“The Alibi” finally makes its television premiere, bringing more explosive secrets that will keep audiences hooked. Adding to the excitement, Sofia Andres talked about honing her craft and building dynamic chemistry with Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino on the March 16 episode of Kapamilya Chat.
When the news broke that “The Alibi” would take over the first slot in primetime, Sofia was surprised and expressed her gratitude to all those who worked on the program. “Salamat, they welcomed me and I'm able to work with people I really admire. I'm just feeling so lucky.”
“The Alibi” first streamed on Prime Video Philippines in 2025, and now that it's airing on free TV, viewers can expect more details and exclusive takes that add depth to the story. “Kailangan n’yo talagang tumutok at subaybayan ang ‘The Alibi,’” Sofia urged, describing the show as more intense yet filled with kilig surprises for KimPau fans.
The Kapamilya actress looked back on the time she was offered the role, sharing that she initially had doubts about herself. ‘Pero once I work with these people, I'm sure I'm going to grow and learn so much from them,’ she said. She explained that she took the risk despite her hesitation, and it turned out to be worth it.
Sofia breathes life into Claudia Cabrera, a character whose strength lies in protecting what she has, though she rarely acknowledges her own weaknesses. On the challenge of portraying Claudia, Sofia admitted, “It's never gonna be easy kapag merong project na ganito kalaki, na nasa primetime.” She confessed that she sometimes looks back and wonders if she delivered well. “I really have to focus on my acting skills.” she added.
Claudia is the estranged wife of Victor, played by Paulo. On working with Paulo, Sofia revealed that she was nervous at first. “Kasi, he's very strict with everything. Strict in a way that's good, because he's super focused, into his craft, and super professional—same as Kim [Chiu].” She noted that the lead stars inspired her with their work ethic, especially their patience with her. Talking about her dynamics with Kim, Sofia described her to be friendly, emphasizing that she never exudes a superiority complex. “They still try to make you feel that you're welcome and we're all in the same spot here.”
When asked regarding the most challenging part of becoming Claudia, Sofia reflected on the layers of the role. “She's very spicy, intense, it's for you to find out.” She elaborated that what she liked about Claudia was her capacity for love, while what she disliked was her vengeful energy. As for how viewers might receive Claudia, Sofia anticipated that everyone would hate her character more than anything.
Without spoiling anything, Sofia shared anecdotes on her difficulties in executing some scenes with her co-actors, as seen in the trailer. “Medyo nahirapan ako, kasi baka mamaya makasakit ako. Knowing Kim naman, she's used to that kind of mga scenes, so she was able to guide me and nag-open up na rin ako.” On the brighter side, she was confident that they were able to deliver the takes perfectly.
Lastly, beyond the suspense energy the serye offers are the fun off-cam moments the cast did, especially in Cebu, which served as their taping location most of the time. Sofia recalled her favorite off-day memories. “We go out and eat, we love to eat. It's just fun because it's like family na. Hindi ako nahirapan to bond with them.” she recounted.
