As we hope for the younger generation to preserve Filipino culture, the "Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0" housemates took on that challenge by learning and performing traditional folk dances.

For their 12th weekly task, the housemates had to perform three different Filipino folk dances—'Maglalatik' (for the boys), 'Binasuan' (for the girls), and 'Sayaw sa Bangko' (done in pairs and as a full group).

And there’s no room for mistakes. To succeed, they could only commit a maximum of ten errors as a team, and that includes moving out of sync. In Maglalatik, the boys must also not drop their coconut shells. In Binasuan, the girls must keep their glasses balanced while twirling. And in Sayaw sa Bangko, falling off the bench is an automatic demerit.

The January 17 episode opened with the housemates in training mode for their weekly task. The girls, in particular, had their hands full (quite literally) as they struggled to learn the steps of Binasuan, which requires control and perfect balance while moving with glasses placed on both hands and the head. Krystal Mejes mentioned the challenge of keeping the timing right, while Caprice Cayetano pointed out how difficult it was to move the hands while holding the glasses.

After the practice, the training team reminded them that they can’t just do things half-heartedly because aside from it being their weekly task, they are also representing Filipino dance and culture, and with that comes the responsibility to perform with respect and grace.

With grace, indeed—that’s how the girls carried themselves. Krystal, Caprice, Ashley Sarmiento, Lella Ford, Sofia Pablo, Carmelle Collado, Princess Aliyah and Eliza Borromeo looked beautiful, not just because of their Filipiniana costumes but also because of how they moved with poise despite a few visible mistakes, most notably when a glass slipped off Princess’ head mid-performance.

Will the housemates succeed in completing their 12th weekly task? Watch “PBB Collab 2.0,” available online via livestreams on the PBB YouTube Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), and iWant.
