Seeing her roommate Gemma (Kaori Oinuma) restless and alone outside, Madeth (Xyriel Manabat) brings her a glass of warm milk and jokes that it’s a better option than alcohol, especially with an early shift waiting for her in the morning.
Gemma tries to deny that something is bothering her, but Madeth sees through it, pointing out that the look on her face is enough to tell a story of a girl hopelessly heartbroken.
Giving her new friend a 'real talk,' Madeth says that while Patrick’s good qualities can’t be denied, Gemma is on the losing side of things. Gemma is stunned to realize just how her special feelings for Patrick have been obvious all along, so much so that Madeth knew about it even without asking.
Madeth presses on with her advice that someone like Gemma should never waste her love on the wrong person, to which Gemma responds that no love is wasted if it serves to help someone else. It doesn’t take long for Madeth to realize what Gemma is implying—that she hopes her constant support for Patrick might eventually win his heart. But Madeth believes that a woman like Gemma deserves a love equal to the one she gives. If she were in her shoes, she adds, she would choose someone who already loves her more, not waste time on a love that offers neither reciprocity nor assurance.
Eavesdropping just a few steps away, Vincent (Enchong Dee) grins, finding it almost unbelievable that his stubborn assistant is low-key playing matchmaker between him and the girl he likes
