After more than a month of finding the man and woman who would best represent the real and modern definition of beauty through their well-loved and fun-filled segments “Breaking Muse” and “Escort Mo, Show Mo,” “It’s Showtime” finally found and hailed the most deserving candidates to take home the crowns.
They’re none other than “Breaking Muse” titleholder Verna Joy Tuliao of Barangay BF International-CAA, Las Piñas City, and Daniel Butas of Brgy. Pasong Kawayan, General Trias, Cavite, who both amused the madlang people with their undeniable wit and extraordinary talents, as well as impressed us with their admirable confidence and authenticity.
Several days may have already passed since they were proclaimed the winners via “The Fiestacular Finals” held last August 16, yet the laughter and good vibes that they’d brought us throughout their respective stints on the show somehow make it quite impossible for us to easily move on from them. Thus, we collated a few of their droll and remarkable moments and interactions with the hosts in this edition of Showtime Toplist!
Let us begin with Verna’s first-ever appearance on the program, wherein she called herself a “head turner” and went on to demonstrate to the cameras how guys react whenever they catch sight of her striking splendor. Vice Ganda and her co-hosts were indeed entertained by her, so they asked her to do it multiple times.
Verna continued to amuse everyone with her interactions with the hosts, with the Unkabogable Star actually getting gigil over her due to her consistency in giving off ‘sarcastic’ responses towards her. She further provided enjoyment through the comedic skit that she and host Darren Espanto carried out as per the instructions of Vice.
A month after Verna’s initial TV appearance, Daniel had his time to shine when he first stepped on the “It’s Showtime” stage via the “Escort Mo, Show Mo” segment. Just on his very first day, he immediately got us entertained not only with his sense of humor and cheerful personality but also with his and his partner’s unbelievable romance.
The hosts showed interest in their love story, with Vice even interviewing his beautiful partner, Sabrina, who was among his cheerleaders at the time. They had him reminisce about how their relationship started, to which he revealed was when he offered her to collaborate with him for a series of vlog. She accepted it and eventually fell in love with him along the way, turning their supposed collab only into a co-LOVE, as host Jhong Hilario put it.
Daniel further entertained everyone when he did a skit with Darren in the “Question & Answer” round, wherein not only his wit but also his acting chops, comedic talent, and English-speaking skills were put to the test. He may have struggled conversing with Darren since the latter was talking to him in English, yet he was still able to give us an impressive performance.
And during the “The Fiestacular Finals,” both Verna and Daniel stood out among the final three candidates of “Breaking Muse” and “Escort Mo, Show Mo.” Verna didn’t simply impress us with her rendition of Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” but she astounded us when she did it while bravely sitting on top of the ABS-CBN Building. Daniel, on the other hand, delivered an intense dance performance alongside Kapamilya dancer Ken San Jose.
But aside from their mind-blowing talents and undeniable wits, what really made Verna and Daniel shine were their winning answers to the “Q&A” portions of “Breaking Muse” and “Escort Mo, Show Mo.”
When asked by board member Will Ashley, “Ano ang pinaka mahalagang bagay na natutunan mo sa pagsali mo sa kompetisyon na ito at paano mo siya madadala sa labas?”, she said that it would be being authentic and accepting oneself. She set herself as an example, as she’s able to prove to everyone that she possesses the beauty that she can be proud of after getting bullied.
Meanwhile, Daniel responded to board member Bianca Umali’s question with regard to who he really is when no one’s watching, saying, “Sa likod ng camera, pareho lang din akong masayahin, palatawa, at palagi ko lang pinapanindigan kung ano ‘yong positive na mayroon ako at maipapakita ko sa maraming tao. Kailangan nating piliin ang positibong enerhiya [at] huwag ang negatibo dahil hindi ‘yan ang mag-aahon sa’yo sa buhay kundi ang positive [mindset] at focus sa goal ni Lord sa buhay mo.”
