Throughout their journey in “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition,” River Joseph and AZ Martinez stood by each other. While they came from different 'camps' in showbiz and had different personalities, their connection blossomed into a genuine sibling-like bond that gave them a sense of comfort and stability inside the house. They knew how to lift each other up in silence, and that made all the difference.
They found a safe space in each other’s presence during the toughest days in the competition. And even after their “PBB Collab” stint, that bond hasn't changed.
Kapamilya Chat asked them how they think the other would deal with moments of emotional struggle, to which AZ replied that she knows River wouldn’t show his sadness right away. He would likely try to keep it to himself at first, but once he’s ready, he’d turn to the people closest to him and open up. River agreed with AZ’s observation and jestingly added that maybe he’d end up going to the Confession Room to talk to Big Brother, just like the old days.
River, in turn, proved that he knows AZ well. He said she would take a moment to go quiet and process her thoughts before eventually choosing one of her 'core' people to open up to, which he really encourages her to do. "I think it's better to be open about what you're feeling inside especially when you're down or when you're overthinking something. It's better to open up kasi you'll never know if the person you're talking to can relate and can understand you or simply just listen to you," he imparted.
They also promised each other that if either of them needs a support system, one call would be enough. "Sabi ko nga kay AZ na if ever something like that happens dito sa outside world, just call me or message me anytime," shared River.
Nothing has changed in their friendship since “PBB Collab” wrapped up. They still get to bond often whether it’s for work, like interviews and events, or even just casual hangouts with their co-housemates.
And, fortunately, there hasn’t been a moment yet where one of them had to run to the other during a low point. "River is at peace,” AZ said, proud of how well her duo has been finding his rhythm and staying happy.
And in the same way, they take pride in seeing each other content and are grateful to have someone they know will always be there, just one call away.
