Episode 5 of "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" opens with a flashback—young Patrick/Patpat (Joshua Garcia) and young Matmat (Carlo Aquino) were at the police station in Maravida, having just been questioned about their mother’s murder, which Matmat witnessed but all he could recall were butterflies.
As Matmat dozed off beside him, Patrick overheard a conversation between a policeman and a social worker saying that he would be taken by child services while Matmat would be brought to a mental facility. Fearing they would be separated, Patrick gently shook Matmat awake, and the two of them quietly slipped away from the station.
They rode the bus to Olivares, where Matmat believed they would find their mother and a girl named Trixie. As the sun dipped lower into the horizon, Patrick also let his tears fall as he explained to his 'manong' that their mother is already in heaven, but promised that no matter what, the two of them would never be apart.
Back in the present, Patrick wakes from his memories as the bus conductor starts calling out for passengers headed to Maravida, where his friend Gemma (Kaori Oinuma) is going home to. With nothing but good intentions, she asks if he’s thought about going back to their hometown, but Patrick says that he and Matmat won’t be returning just yet.
