Jason Dy had a surreal moment that many fans can only dream of.
“The Prince of Soul” left everyone in awe after his stunning impersonation as Sam Smith on Your Face Sounds Familiar’s new season. Taking on the global hit “Dancing With a Stranger” for YFSF's week 2, Jason captured the perfect tone, mannerisms, and bold emotion with precision.
On Sunday, October 26, Jason shared photos of his transformation on Instagram, showing off his Sam Smith impersonation.
“ooh baby baby I’m dancing with a stranger
as @samsmith for this week on @yourfaceph! ⚓️,” he wrote in the caption.
But the biggest surprise came after the show. Grammy award-winning singer Sam Smith had noticed his transformation.
The international superstar liked and commented on Jason’s post, instantly turning an ordinary upload into a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Sam wrote in the comments “❤️”.
Jason, clearly overjoyed by Sam's recognition, replied: “@samsmith OMG HELLO”
“@samsmith r u kidding me wow hello omg,” he added.
Jason even shared the interaction on his Instagram stories showing his excitement and happiness.

Jason’s “Dancing with a Stranger” performance made him the winner, scoring an impressive 33 points from the judges and fellow celebrity performers and taking home the ₱50,000 cash prize.

In an interview with Mary Ann Bardinas of ABS-CBN, Jason shared the gratitude he feels for his win.
“Sobrang saya. Ang laking relief, sobrang gratifying [dahil] nagbunga ‘yong late-night rehearsals, ‘yong pag-aaral ng mga kanta [at] ng choreography. Nakakatuwa na binoto ako ng judges at ng co-contestants ko.”, he said.
It was on 2014 that Jason first sang a Sam Smith's song on national TV, with his rendition of “Stay With Me” on The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 blind auditions. During the auditions, he got a three-chair turner and a standing ovation from the coaches. Jason was eventually hailed as the grand winner.
