MANILA -- "The Prince of Soul" Jason Dy on Sunday was named as the winner of second round of "Your Face Sounds Familiar."
Dy's transformation as English singer-songwriter Sam Smith earned praises from judges and his fellow celebrity performers who enjoyed his performance.
"Very impressed kung gaano ka ka-talented. 'Yun talaga. At the end of the day, nakita si Sam Smith, naramdaman si Sam Smith, nag-enjoy kami sa performance ni Sam Smith. Ang reklamo ko lang -- mas magaling ka kay Sam Smith," guest judge/mentor Nyoy Volante said.
"Grabe ka Jason! Halimaw! Grabe on point lahat. Sobrang nilampasan mo ang expectation ko actually. Para ma-pull off mo 'yung ganoong sing and dance. ... Hindi ka bumitaw, all throughout ng performance mo, Sam Smith ka talaga. Congratulations, Jason. Napakagaling," guest judge/mentor Klarisse de Guzman said.
"Agree ako sa sinabi nila at talagang mas magaling ka kay Sam Smith. Ang galing-galing ,mo Jason. I'm so speechless, you are so amazing. Congratulations!" juror Ogie Alcasid said.
Aside from plaque, Dy also took home P50,000.
"Grabe, sobrang nakakatuwa po. Nakakataba ng puso. Salamat sa mga scores niyo judges at sa lahat nang bumoto sa akin. I love you," Dy said.
Dy won the second round after receiving a total score of 33 from the jurors and his fellow celebrity performers.
The duo of JM dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano was the second highest scorer with 24 points, followed by Alexa Ilacad with 21 points.
Next week, Rufa Mae Quinto will transform as Miley Cyrus, BGYO's Akira Morishita will transform as Charlie Puth, actress-singer Alexa Ilacad will transform as Jennie, Reina Hispano-Americana 2025 Dia Mate will be Adam Levine after Pepe Herrera used the steal iconizer to get Juan Karlos from her.
Rising singer-songwriter Jarlo Base will be Jericho Rosales, and the Tawag ng Tanghalan Duets champion JM and Marielle will transform as couple Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez.
Dy will transform as the legendary American singer Frank Sinatra.
The brand new season of "Your Face Sounds Familiar" airs on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z. Viewers can also catch it on TV5 every Saturday, at 8:15 p.m. and Sundays, at 8:30 p.m..
