MANILA — PLDT's Kim Fajardo is wary of playmakers' "trend" of making their presence felt in scoring.

But for the De La Salle University product, she intends to do lead the PLDT offense in her "own way."

PVL returnee Jia de Guzman, Farm Fresh rookie Alohi Robins-Hardy, as well as Galeries freshman and Alas Pilipinas' Julia Coronel were among the setters who have contributed in their respective teams' scoring," but Fajardo doesn't see the need to join the "trend."

"'Di naman ako necessarily na kailangan sumabay sa trend na 'yun, basta gusto ko lang mag-contribute sa team namin sa way na kaya ko," said Fajardo after the High Speed Hitters' 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 win in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) on Tuesday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.

Talking about her own playstyle, Fajardo highlighted her on-court decision-making, enabling her scorers on the taraflex.

"Siguro 'yung playmaking lang siguro, 'yung decision making," said Fajardo, with coach Rald Ricafort quipping, "pogi," referring to her setter's playstyle.

As setters take the spotlight, veterans like her hope to learn from the newbies, including fellow ex-Lady Spiker Coronel.

"For me, hindi siya porket kami 'yung veterans, kami na yung nasa taas palagi. Kasi lagi naman 'yan bumabalik sa basic, so kailangan din namin matuto sa kanila. Excited and siyempre kailangan marami pa rin kami dapat matutunan kahit mga veterans kami," she said.

Fajardo said she was "excited" when she played against Coronel, who also plays for the national team.

"Before mag-start 'yung game, excited ako na makita kung ano 'yung improvement pa nung bata kasi [nag]-Alas [siya]. Excited ako and happy na nakatapat ko siya," she said regarding the young playmaker of the Highrisers.
