MANILA (UPDATED) — Cignal says no sweep.
The Super Spikers lived up to their brand new moniker as they halted Zus Coffee's perfect run, 25-12, 26-24, 25-23, in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
After a quick Set 1 win built on a dominant 18-3 run, they gutted out the succeeding frames to walk away with the stunning straight-set win.
Just when Vanie Gandler put Cignal to a two-point 23-21 lead in Set 3, Zus Coffee reinforcement Anna DeBeer was there to inject life into their side with back-to-back hits and knot the game at 23-all.
But On Tour MVP Erika Santos spelled the difference, firing the off-the-block hit and the kill block on Chinnie Arroyo to complete the win, improving their chances of making it the next round.

"Sobrang nakakaproud ‘yung team kasi pinaghirapan talaga. Sobrang happy dahil ‘yun talaga ‘yung goal eh, pero ang good thing kasi kanina mas nag-focus kasi kami rin sa process and papaano kami gagalaw nang tama," said coach Shaq delos Santos during the postgame press conference.
Santos tallied a total of 19 points anchored on 13 attacks, three blocks and three aces, while import Katrin Trebichavska backstopped that performance with 13 points and 14 excellent receptions.
On the other hand, Zus Coffee's franchise-best start came to an end. Jerry Yee's side lacked the local support, as DeBeer was the lone bright spot for them as she listed 26 points, which all came from attacks.
Cignal will be facing defending champion Creamline, its last assignment in the preliminaries, while the quarterfinal-bound Zus Coffee has the inside track as it battles cellar-dweller Nxled.
