MANILA -- Promising Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo is now a FIG World Cup champion.
The 18-year-old gymnast won gold in the men's floor exercise final at the FIG World Cup Antalya in Turkiye on Saturday.
After finishing fourth in qualifications, Yulo ruled the men's floor exercise performing a flawless routine with a difficulty of 5.3 and execution of 8.800, the highest in the final.
This marks the younger Yulo's first-ever gold medal in senior level competition.
Ireland's Eamon Montgomery finished second with a score of 13.833 points, while Rayderley Zapata clinched bronze with 13.333 points.
The next leg of the FIG World Cup will be held in Cairo, Egypt from April 3 to 6.
