MANILA -- The Philippines has secured promotion to Group III of the Davis Cup.
This, after a dominant 2-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan in their playoff tie at the 2025 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group 4 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Eric Jr. Olivarez got the Filipinos off to a flying start with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 win over Kyrgyzstan's Kirill Kistanov in the first singles rubber.
AJ Lim followed it up with a steady performance against Ilgiz Kamchibekov, taking the second singles match 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the tie for the Philippines.
With the outcome already decided, the scheduled doubles match between Francis Casey Alcantara and Ruben Gonzales of the Philippines and Kyrgyzstan's Erbol Eldiyar Uulu and Kistanov was no longer played.
These results gave the Philippines a flawless record in their 2025 campaign.
The win secures the Philippines a spot in Group 3 of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone for the 2026 season.
