MANILA -- The Philippines is off to a sensational start in its campaign in the AFC Under-17 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers.
This, after the young Filipinas clobbered Syria, 5-0, on Monday night at the Pamir Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Ariana Enderes starred for the Philippines, scoring just four minutes into the match to set the tone for the rout. She grabbed another goal a minute before halftime.
The young Filipinas poured it on in the second half, with Kaida Mizzo firing a screamer from outside the box five minutes after the restart, followed by another goal by Louraine Evangelista just two minutes later.
Sofhia Muros completed the scoring in the 72nd minute.
With the result, the Philippines is currently on top of Group A with three points and +5 goal differential.
Malaysia, which beat host Tajikistan 2-0 in the second match, also has three points.
The Philippines will play Tajikistan on Wednesday.
Only the group winners will advance to the 2026 AFC Under-17 Women's Asian Cup, which is set for China on April 30 to May 17.
