MANILA — "Star for All Seasons" and veteran politician Vilma Santos-Recto is poised to return to the Batangas capitol after defeating her rivals in the province's gubernatorial race.

Santos-Recto obtained 598,299 votes, followed by Mike Rivera with 486,475 votes and Jay Manalo Ilagan with 248,211 votes, based on the partial and unofficial results from 78.86 percent of election returns from the Commission on Elections, as of 9:59 p.m. Monday.

Santos-Recto's son Ryan Recto is also poised to win as Batangas 6th district representative with 82,587 votes.
Her other son, Luis Manzano, however, lagged behind Governor Hermilando "Dodo" Mandanas, who is poised to serve as vice governor with 751,856 votes.
Manzano got 516,742 votes, so far.
Santos-Recto had described her return to governorship as a "tour of duty."
The actress also downplayed criticism that the her family was building a political dynasty, saying the people have freely chosen them due to their competence and service.
