4 exclusive comics to premiere at SuperManila Comic Con 2025

HandoutMANILA — SuperManila Comic Con returns September 6–7 with four international comic book exclusives created for the convention, marking a first for a Philippine pop culture event of its size.

The convention will take place at One Ayala in Makati, spanning two floors and featuring comics, collectibles, toys, cosplay and pop culture programming.

Headlining the exclusives is "Eraserheads: Combo on the Run #1," a one-shot adaptation of the band’s documentary, which debuted at San Diego Comic-Con. The SuperManila release features a new cover by artist Stephen Segovia. 

Archie Comics veteran Dan Parent introduces "Betty & Veronica: Friends Forever #1," placing the characters in a Filipino setting. 

"G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #21 "arrives with a cover by Miguel Mercado honoring the franchise’s landmark “Silent Issue,” while "Absolute Flash #1 "presents DC Comics’ first Philippine-exclusive cover, depicting the Flash racing through Ayala Avenue by Carlo Pagulayan, Jason Paz and Romulo Fajardo.

The guest lineup includes Marvel editor C.B. Cebulski, artist Mike Zeck (Secret Wars, Spider-Man), Archie creator Dan Parent, and international talents Bengal (Batgirl), Hendry Prasetya (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Ario Anandito (Star Wars: The High Republic), Alan Quah (Deadpool, Batman), and Disney painter Heather Edwards. 

Japanese artist Peach Momoko returns with her “Momoko-Verse” and an exclusive “Manananggal” print, limited to 250 copies, produced with support from The Japan Foundation.

Filipino comics creators will also be in the spotlight, including Segovia (WILDC.A.T.S), Pagulayan (Superman: Lost), Leinil Yu (X-Men), Paz (Deathstroke), Fajardo (Justice League), Don Aguillo (King Spawn), Manix Abrera (Kikomachine Komix) and Pol Medina Jr. (Pugad Baboy). The convention will feature signings, live sketches, commissions and authentication services.

Beyond comics, SuperManila will showcase designer toys, cosplay and merchandise. Graffiti artist and toy designer Quiccs Maiquez will present new works, while cosplay performers Prince De Guzman and Awie will debut new characters. Collectibles from Hot Toys, Lego, Bandai, Good Smile Company, Kotobukiya, Tomica and ZD Toys will be available, along with event-only promotions.

Lego Ninjago is partnering with Filipino artists to release 16 exclusive art prints, including works by Pagulayan, Abrera and Segovia. Attendees who spend at least ₱1,000 at select booths will receive a free print, with limited stocks available for signing sessions.

Panels and workshops will provide fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the industry, from Parent’s discussion on decades of Archie storytelling to Momoko’s painted art process. Sessions will also cover Warhammer, upcoming animation projects and hands-on activities for children.
