The third row of “repre-sing-tatives” featured members of the Songbayanang Online Couples who took their relationships to the next level by tying the knot. Among them were Kathy and Pol, whose complicated love story surprised “Everybody, Sing!” host Vice Ganda during the community singing game show’s July 4 episode.
Pol shared that he met Kathy on Facebook back when the platform was popular for its online games. The two grew closer over time as they bonded over online gaming. However, there was one catch: Pol was unaware that he had actually been chatting with Kathy’s then-52-year-old widowed mother, who had been using her daughter’s identity to earn the free chips needed to play the game.
This setup went on for months, with Kathy completely unaware of what was happening. Pol, who was an OFW in Saudi Arabia at the time, would occasionally visit the Philippines, but Kathy’s mother would start arguments to avoid meeting him in person. Still reeling from an almost-marriage breakup, Kathy’s bitterness got the better of her one day when she decided to snoop through her mother’s laptop after noticing how giggly she became while talking to someone.
It was then that Kathy discovered what her mother had been doing behind her back. Angry and frustrated, she immediately reached out to Pol via email, revealing the whole truth. Though skeptical at first, Pol eventually believed her when they finally spoke through a Messenger video call.
Aside from Pol’s persistence in messaging after the situation was clarified, his maturity and good looks eventually earned him Kathy’s long-awaited “yes” after years of courtship. Kathy later shared that her mother was currently living with them under one roof, which drew 'concern' from Vice.
While the arrangement may have seemed awkward at first, Kathy assured the Asia’s Unkabogable Superstar that everything between Pol and her mother was already in the past, especially since her marriage to Pol had been going strong for 13 years. She also believed that her mother had only been looking out for her, hoping to help her find someone who could help mend her broken heart.
