To say “proud” is an understatement for many Kapamilyas who have witnessed Kathryn Bernardo’s breathtaking journey from being a talented child actress to becoming the exceptional Asia’s Superstar. Over the years, she would beautifully embrace all of her characters, powerfully delivering lines ranging from playful to terrified or deeply emotional, and today she shows that she’s fiercer than ever, drawing even more viewers for her upcoming projects.
Kathryn will be the protagonist in the modern, feel-good, and progressive series with a heart, “Someone, Someday,” playing the role of Billy, the CEO of Love List. While Billy independently runs a dating platform and empowers fellow women, she also takes care of her younger brother Oliver (Migs Casimiro) as well as the people she holds dear, such as Jordan (James Reid) and Precious (Dimples Romana).
Before we get into her imminent conflict with Maja Salvador’s character as the intriguing Abby, let’s turn the clock to Kathryn’s notable acting performances throughout the years.
Starting her career in 2003, Kathryn debuted in the romance teleserye “It Might Be You.” Here, she adorably portrayed the young Cielo, whose adult version was Bea Alonzo. She then readily stepped into the shoes of the young Carina Mojica dela Cerna (Maricel Soriano) in the 2005 historical fiction drama “Vietnam Rose.”
Entering the universe of Pinoy superheroes in 2004 and 2006, young Kathryn made her way to “Krystala,” becoming part of the titular character Krystala’s (Judy Ann Santos) allies, Bullinggit. Kathryn, as kikay and finicky, was next shown during her first-ever main role as Maya Guevarra in “Super Inggo,” where she was also the love interest of Budong (Makisig Morales).
In 2007, Kathryn effortlessly embodied the young Mayumi Burgos/Daphne Pertierra (later portrayed as an adult by Angelika Dela Cruz) in “Princesa ng Banyera.” She skillfully depicted the selfish and manipulative behaviors of the character, eventually garnering the recognition of many.
Throughout the acclaimed run of “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” Kathryn successfully wrapped up three intensely emotional episodes, particularly “Blusa” in 2009, “Ensaymada” in 2012, and culminating with “Parol,” in 2015.
When it came to working on fantasy anthology series, the actress was equally up to the task. She made an appearance in the two episodes of “Wansapanataym,” specifically “Apir Disapir,” and “Puppy ko si Papi.”
As she reached her teenage years, Kathryn took on the fictional identity of the young Victoria Valera/Anna Abella in “Magkaribal” before ultimately rising to prominence through her breakthrough performance as Mara David in the sensational 2015 remake of “Mara Clara.”
The starting point of the renowned reel-to-real pairing “KathNiel” took place in the reboot of the youth-oriented show “Growing Up,” where she acted alongside Daniel Padilla for the first time.
Shortly thereafter, they starred in even more highly rated teleseryes, particularly “Princess and I,” “Got To Believe,” “Be Careful with My Heart,” “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” and “La Luna Sangre.” Each of these era-defining television series truly strengthened their reputation as one of the leading love teams in the Philippines. After some time, Kathryn’s and Daniel’s last undertaking with one another was the rom-com “2 Good 2 Be True.”
Two years passed, Kathryn made her way back to the television screen, serving as one of the judges for “Pilipinas Got Talent Season 7.”
