As “Everybody, Sing!” host Vice Ganda commenced “The ChooSing One” round, she had a heartfelt conversation with Sir A, one of the third set of “songpu” from the Songbayanang Gen X and Millennial Singles featured over the weekend.
In the June 7 episode of the community-singing game show, Sir A opened up to Vice Ganda about his heartbreak. He shared that he has been single since around 2009 because of a tragic love story that ended more than a decade ago. Sir A’s former partner initially went to Canada as a tourist. She later learned that her sister had arranged a marriage for her with another man, which eventually enabled her to obtain permanent residency in Canada.
When Vice asked Sir A why her then-lover hadn’t fought for their relationship, he simply explained that the situation was complicated because her ex-girlfriend was under her sister’s control.
Several years after their separation, Sir A received a message from her asking to meet, as she was in the country at the time. He said she could drop by his house if she wanted to. Sir A clarified to Vice that, despite the ‘betrayal,’ he was willing to forgive his ex-partner in consideration of the happy memories they had shared.
The Asia’s Unkabogable Superstar expressed her admiration for how Sir A handled his heartbreak. However, putting herself in his shoes, Vice admitted that she would find it difficult to forgive the ex-partner, emphasizing how hurt and disrespected she would feel if she experienced the same heartache.
Vice further explained, “You can be a good person and still not allow yourself to be hurt.”
By the end of the conversation, Vice wished Sir A well, expressing hope that he was not the kind of person who would allow the same individual to break his heart repeatedly.
