Rashid (JV Kapunan) rushes over to Omar (Edgar Mortiz) and Norhana’s (Malou Crisologo) residence, urging them to watch Maya Mae Kalaw’s documentary featuring the tragedy at Isla Damai. Jalil (Gerald Anderson), Marcus (Richard Gutierrez), Jamilah (Barbie Imperial), and a lot more also paid attention, not skipping a moment.
Dressed in Muslim women’s clothing, the journalist travels to Isla Damai by boat while explaining the way the massacre drastically affected the lives of the innocent Muslim community residing on the island.
Seconds later, a number of tombstones are revealed, with one of the residents discussing the burial process that involves carefully wrapping the deceased with a kafan symbolizing humility and simplicity as well as burying them right away so that their spirits can feel at ease at the prospect of their sacrifices being remembered.
Maya then proceeds to converse with the grieving survivors, particularly Fatima, who wept over the final memory of her daughter, Ariza, getting shot to death more than once. Maryam talked about her late husband, with whom she had planned to head to the city to shop for new shoes for their son, Harun.
When more heartbreaking accounts come to light, Jamilah begins to cry, confiding with Teresa (Susan Africa) that those who have passed away were her friends since she was just a child.
Ramli (Alex Medina) appears on the screen, declaring that both the falsely accused Jalil and Datu Rahman’s (Jaime Fabregas) absence caused them to lose their protectors. Murad adds to Ramli’s sentiments by saying that illegal firearms are spreading throughout the islands surrounding them, and when the syndicates strike, there is no one to keep them safe.
The documentary then ends with a hope for justice as the surrendered Datu Rahman declared that the ones behind the massacre are from NLEA.
