It was finally seasoned actress Ynez Veneracion’s turn to take the stage as the special celebrity player of “Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal” after the Lucky Wheel landed on her assigned briefcase number during the game show’s June 28 airing.
Reflecting deeply on the ups and downs of her life, Ynez shared that she began her acting career as a talent with no lines, earning as little as ₱50 for each film in which she appeared as an extra. When project offers were scarce, actor Mon Confiado helped her get back on her feet. That kind gesture turned her life around—from having only ₱1,000 left in her bank account at the time to now owning her own house.
Pambansang host Luis Manzano later asked the actress what she would do if she took home one of the higher cash prizes. In a slip of the tongue, Ynez accidentally called Luis by veteran comedian Long Mejia’s name. Luis jokingly took offense at the mix-up and challenged Long to momentarily replace him as the show’s host. After Long attempted to interview Ynez, Luis pointed out his seemingly 'drunken' hosting style, which drew laughter from the audience.
Expressing her wish to share a portion of her potential winnings with her fellow Lucky Stars and persons with disabilities (PWDs), the celebrity player eventually gave up her assigned briefcase number 4 in exchange for briefcase number 12, which had been catching her attention throughout the weekend.
