Be it drama, action, romance, or fantasy, ultimate leading man Richard Gutierrez has already proven throughout his forty years as an actor that he can certainly excel in any genre.

It is widely known that he hails from one of the most prominent families in the local entertainment industry, making it almost inevitable for him to be in the spotlight from a very young age. In fact, he and his twin brother, Raymond, had already appeared in several films while they were still toddlers. Having begun his career so early—virtually spanning his entire life—Richard has undoubtedly secured his place in Filipino pop culture and television history.

Nearly nine years after officially becoming a Kapamilya, he is set to thrill audiences once again in the upcoming series “Blood vs Duty,” alongside Gerald Anderson, Bela Padilla, Baron Geisler, and Barbie Imperial.

But before we get to witness another standout performance from him, let’s first revisit Richard’s acting stints so far as a certified Kapamilya actor in this Spotlight feature.

In the very same year that he signed a contract with ABS-CBN, he was immediately given a pretty intense role that highlighted his potential as a compelling onscreen kontrabida.

He portrayed Sandrino Villalobo, the “Supremo” or leader of a coterie of vampires in the fantasy drama “La Luna Sangre,” whom the main characters, Malia (Kathryn Bernardo) and Tristan (Daniel Padilla), had to defeat. The project also marked his reunion with Angel Locsin.

After sending chills down viewers’ spines as the powerful leader of vampires, Richard made us swoon in his very first “Maalaala Mo Kaya” appearance in 2019 via the “Hot Choco” episode, where he was paired with Elisse Joson. Together, they relived the story of real-life couple Tito and Shareena as they navigated the ups and downs of their relationship—including their significant age gap—following their serendipitous and heartwarming “organic encounter” at the coffee shop where she once worked as a barista and he was used to be a regular customer.

From 2020 to 2022, he went back to being an onscreen villain via his special and remarkable participation in the long-running hit series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” He took on the role of Lito Valmoria, an old friend of Alyana (Yassi Pressman), who was determined to win her back. This positioned him as an instant rival of the titular character, Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin), as well as a major obstacle to Cardo and his group in fulfilling their mission.

“The Iron Heart” was his first-ever starring role in a Kapamilya serye. He brought to life the seasoned assassin Apollo Adelantar, captivating audiences not only with his striking physique but also with his impressive stunt work and gun-handling skills, as he figured in a series of intense combat scenes while pursuing his mission to infiltrate and exact revenge on the syndicate behind the tragic murder of his adoptive father years ago.

Two years after “The Iron Heart” concluded, Richard went back to action as he headlined “Incognito” alongside Ian Veneracion, Baron Geisler, Daniel Padilla, Maris Racal, Kaila Estrada, and Anthony Jennings. He portrayed Jose “JB” Bonifacio, an ex-Navy officer expert in counterterrorism, Special Reconnaissance, combat diving, and urban warfare. He was recruited by contractor Col. Gregorio “Greg” Paterno (Ian Veneracion) to join a private military company tasked with carrying out high-risk missions against the criminal underworld.

And this 2026, the seasoned actor is once again set to astonish us with flair in action and drama via the upcoming teleserye “Blood vs Duty.” He’ll play Marcus, a police officer assigned to lead the special unit that aims to seize the gun-smuggling syndicate related to the family of Gerald Anderson’s character, Jalil.

Are you as thrilled as us to see how Richard Gutierrez will once again dominate primetime with his latest stint? Well, you better make sure to catch “Blood vs Duty” as it airs on primetime beginning April 6 at 8 PM via ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2, A2Z, iWant and Kapamilya Online Live (KOL).

Blood vs Duty” is the latest offering from ABS-CBN’s JRB Creative Production, the team behind hit Kapamilya series “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin,” “Darna,” “Nag-aapoy na Damdamin,” and “Sins of the Father,” led by business unit head Julie Anne R. Benitez and creative head Dindo Perez. It is directed by FM Reyes, Bjoy Balagtas, and Rico Navarro, along with action director Erwin Tagle.
