Each character has, so far, been entangled in the mysterious death of Walter (Sam Milby)—from Stella (Kim Chiu) and Vincent (Paulo Avelino) to his own family—with the stakes rising as money, business, and illegal substances surround the case.
Despite the thought-provoking revelations, some characters also give us moments to breathe, including Katherine and Edward, played by Angelina Cruz and Robbie Jaworski. Katherine is Stella’s sister, while Edward looks up to his brother, Vincent. Their banter and serious exchanges spark kilig for many viewers, and it’s time to rewind these moments between Katherine and Edward in “The Alibi.”
1. Katherine and Edward's first encounter
Edward, who is out for a jog, pauses for a moment as he talks to his friend on the phone. Nearby, Katherine sits on the ground, skimming through her school readings. Edward turns his gaze toward her, and Katherine meets his eyes, the two exchanging smiles for a moment.
2. Edward steps in for Katherine
Katherine rushes to a job interview but needs to use the restroom. However, the restaurant staff refuse to let her in due to customer policies. Before security can drag her out, Edward arrives and pretends that Katherine is his girlfriend, since he is a customer at the time. This allows her to use the restroom, and they even play along as a couple in front of the staff.
3. Katherine gives Edward the wrong details
Katherine thanks Edward for saving her earlier. He introduces himself and asks for her name, but she ignores him and tries to leave immediately. However, Edward is persistent and follows her. She then pretends her name is “Sonya” and gives him a fake contact number.
4. Katherine as Sonya
After their chance encounter at the restaurant, Edward spots Katherine at the hotel. Calling her “Sonya,” he tries to rush toward her but fails to catch up. He then dials the phone number she gave him before they parted ways.
The call connects to Aling Sonya (Lotlot Bustamante), Katherine’s neighbor. She answers, and Edward tells her that he just saw her in the lobby. Sonya replies that she is currently at home, leaving Edward confused.
5. First day at work
During a team huddle with the staff, Katherine is introduced as the new hire who will join them as a waitress, unaware that Edward is also a waiter at the same hotel. When Katherine’s nametag falls to the ground, Edward picks it up and hands it back to her, saying, “Good luck on your first day, Katherine,” teasing her for lying about her real name.
6. Edward sets Katherine up
Edward asks Katherine to do him a favor by serving one of their VIP guests on his behalf while he goes to pick something up from the kitchen. “Bakit ako? Bago pa lang ako dito,” Katherine admits nervously, but Edward presses her further. It turns out Edward is just playing games with her as a form of revenge for lying to him.
7. Edward’s playful revenge
As Katherine approaches a regular customer who is strict and has high standards, she fails to take the order immediately. The lady scolds her and tells her to pay attention to everything she says. Edward watches from the other side, laughing as he sees Katherine mess up.
8. Katherine calls out Edward's behavior
Later on, Katherine becomes angry with Edward after learning that he was just toying with her. When Edward tries to make amends, Katherine says, “Hindi ko kailangan ng tulong mo. Baka mapahamak na naman ako.” Edward insists that the situation from before would help her improve her service, but Katherine does not believe him.
“Tapusin na natin ’to, tutulungan kita,” Edward says, but Katherine does not accept his offer. This leads the two to bicker and accidentally drop utensils, and unfortunately, they are caught by their supervisor.
9. Shift partners
Katherine and Edward are called by their head and are declared companions on duty, meaning they will be together in everything they do, responsible as a pair, and held accountable as one whenever either of them fails to do their job properly. Katherine then walks out of the room emotionally, unable to protest.
10. The struggles of working together
Now that they are assigned as a duo, Katherine feels more challenged in doing her tasks. While Edward steps away for a moment to take a phone call, Katherine accidentally drops the food supplies on the floor, and their supervisor catches her.
Her boss tells her to file an incident report and scolds her further, while Edward only watches everything unfold. He apologizes to Katherine, but she cries, “Hindi mangyayari ’to kung hindi mo ako iniwan.” Edward tries to calm her down, but Katherine reminds him that her job is important and that he should not take things lightly, as mistakes could affect her employment.
