Erica (Kaila Estrada) and Marco (Race Matias) encounter a raging Lucas (JM de Guzman) at Amurao’s police station, dragging his estranged father, Crisanto (Gerald Madrid), after catching him at their abandoned residence sixteen years after he had beaten Lucas and Edong’s (Jake Cuenca) mother to death.
The police finally take hold of Crisanto, who actually had two active cases against him and even lost one of his arms as he attempted to flee from an officer’s pursuit in the past. Witnessing all of this unfolding before him, Lucas almost faints due to overwhelming emotions resurfacing and is immediately assisted by Erica and Marco.
Moments later, Erica approaches Lucas in the parking lot and briefly treats his wound. Lucas thanks her and goes on to share his deep-seated resentment against his father, particularly with how he had always dreamed of sending him to prison in order to finally get the justice his mother deserves.
Despite the good news, Lucas realizes that he still can’t feel completely happy, for the reason that he couldn’t tell his brother, Edong, about Crisanto’s arrest. Lucas then becomes angered again, remembering how he wanted nothing but to beat Crisanto until this man’s existence would vanish from his mind.
Finding Lucas’ complicated emotions relatable, Erica begins to narrate her harrowing story about being the child of her mother’s rapist. She then details how her mother, Annette (Sharmaine Suarez), hated Erica being alive, having the same exact features as her abuser.
With silence enveloping them, Erica asks Lucas if his destructive thoughts against his father had subsided, to which Lucas affirms. Erica continues her side, stressing how she couldn’t recognize herself anymore after learning about the truth of her identity.
She fondly recalls Marco’s words of how everything that happened to her mother doesn’t define her, and Lucas agrees, confessing that after everything that had happened, Erica is still the light of his life.
Understanding Lucas’ thoughts, Erica says that it’s exactly the reason why he will never be like his heartless father.
