While waiting for nightfall so they could sell the pieces of expensive jewelry they had ransacked from a jewelry shop to a contact of Enteng (Jojit Lorenzo), Tanggol (Coco Martin), his father Ramon (Christopher de Leon), and his friends retreated to their new hideout and decided to have a drink together, as if trying to hold on to a fleeting moment of peace.
Ramon looked at his son with pride, telling him how fortunate he was to be surrounded by loyal and dependable friends—unaware of what was truly happening to Enteng. He couldn’t help but compare it with the world that he and Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) used to belong to, where there’s no such thing as true friends because everyone was cunning and was driven by selfish interests. Thus, for Ramon, Tanggol must consider himself blessed for not only having one genuine friend but a band of brothers willing to put themselves at risk for him, come hell or high water.
Tanggol then got sentimental as he reflected on their friendship. He said to Ramon, “Alam n’yo po, Papa, kahit lumaki lang kami sa hirap, ‘yong pagsasamahan at pagmamahalan namin hindi masusukat. Kahit kailan, hindi ako iniwan ng mga ‘yan. Kahit anong trobol, kahit anong laki ng gulo, lagi silang nasa likod ko. Kaya kung darating ang pagkakataon at papapiliin ulit ako, kayong lahat pa rin ang pipiliin ko.”
He then turned to his friends and told them that having gone through so much together has made him realize that nothing indeed can ever compare to the bond that they share. Thus, they are no longer just mere barkada for him, as they have already become his family, saying that he loved them more than words could ever fully express.
His speech apparently stirred his friends, with Tanos (Mark Anthony "Big Mak" Andaya) reminding him in jest not to forget them once he eventually takes over the city hall. Tanggol reassured him that forgetting them would never happen, especially since they were among the people who believed in him right from the very beginning.
“Kahit saan ako mapunta, tayo-tayo pa rin ang magkakasama. Walang iwanan hanggang kamatayan. Pinapangako ko sa inyo ‘yan,” he vowed, and they went on to have a celebratory toast.
