Aside from winning the Big Jump challenge against her close friend and fellow Kapamilya housemate Joaquin Arce, Lella Ford apparently has another great reason to celebrate—her 20th birthday last February 8. Thus, Joaquin assumed that their chill wakeup call had something to do with her special day.
She may not be able to celebrate it with her family and friends since she’s still inside Bahay ni Kuya, her housemates made sure that the “Blooming Bunso ng Tacloban” would still feel loved and special by enthusiastically wishing her a “happy birthday” with matching warm hugs. However, Joaquin went a bit extra as, aside from just greeting her, he even prepared a simple present for her—a hearty meal that he cooked specially for her.
While he, Miguel Vergara, and Carmelle Collado were cooking breakfast, he suddenly came up with the idea of preparing an omurice for her, which is a popular Japanese dish that consists of ketchup fried rice wrapped in an egg omelette. In order for him to do it, he asked for the eggs of the other housemates, which he promised to return in the following days.
Even though it wasn’t really a success because it turned into an ordinary fried rice and scrambled eggs combo—which he wittily called “oh no rice”—Lella still appreciated it and thanked Joaquin for the effort. He even paired it with churros, which is the housemates’ favorite dessert inside the house.
“Si Lella po ay isang mahalagang tao sa akin. I would have gotten her gift, had we been outside. But it’s a matter of thinking of ways to make her feel special,” Joaquin told Kuya inside the confession room.
The birthday girl, on her part, also expressed her delight for her friend’s sweet gesture as she related to Big Brother, “Nakakatuwa po na naisip po ni Joaquin ‘yon kasi syempre nag-effort pa po siya for me. Ang saya ko po, Kuya.”
