For their 15th weekly task called “Beyond Words,” the remaining housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” had to perform the ongoing season’s official soundtrack, “Kabataang Pinoy,” using Filipino sign language (FSL).

And for them to succeed, Kuya sought the help of two people who could teach them how to do FSL—GP Palma, a deaf ally and founder of Kakamay Movement, a group that champions the Deaf community and advocates FSL training, and Rack Corpuz, a person who is hard of hearing and one of the key figures in the said organization.

Right after the housemates’ final practice under their watch, GP couldn’t help but get emotional as he conveyed his appreciation for their effort and interest in learning FSL. According to him, it used to be just a dream of the deaf community and its allies for their skills and talents to be displayed on huge platforms, such as the field of media and entertainment. It truly delighted him that despite not having the disability, the housemates were able to show others that there’s beauty in the culture of deaf people.

Rack, on the other hand, expressed how amazed and proud she was of the housemates upon seeing the outcome of their collaboration. As she mentioned how the song had created an impact on her, GP echoed it by sharing how the song truly reflects the plight of people with hearing loss. It could serve as an encouragement for them not to allow themselves to be completely silenced by the world, which has usually taken advantage of them, and to courageously stand up for themselves, for each other, and for their dreams.

Listening to the special guests had turned the housemates emotional, as it made them appreciate more what God has given and how they can use their abilities and talents to extend help to those who are in need.

Before GP and Rack departed the house, the housemates, led by task leaders Princess Aliyah and Marco Masa, delivered one by one their heartfelt messages for them via sign language.

I’m very happy. Thank you for accepting me here. Nagulat ako, lahat kayo interested. Masaya kami sa community, sa deaf community,” Rack said.

Once they were already inside the confession room, Kuya also conveyed his message of appreciation to Rack and GP for opening everyone’s eyes and minds to the importance of FSL and to the lives of deaf people. He further reminded them that they always have space in his house, which Rack really appreciated, aside from being given the opportunity to exhibit Filipino sign language.
