Although Tanggol (Coco Martin) kept on insisting that it wasn’t him who shot Erika (Gillian Vicencio) and their unborn child, Santino (Ron Martin) still opted to stand by what he firmly believed in and expressed his deep resentment toward him.
Instead of defending himself, Tanggol chose to empathize with his beloved brother, reassuring him that he would never do anything to hurt him. To prove that he was sincere about it, as well as to appease Santino’s wrath against him, Tanggol threw away the gun that he was holding and allowed Santino to pummel him until he was already bloodied and battered.
Despite being already weak and heavily bruised, Tanggol managed to dodge Santino’s punches and to stop him from landing further blows. Tanggol once again declared that he would never fight back or harm his brother because of his genuine love for him, yet his words fell on deaf ears as Santino continued to attack him. Santino even provoked him to retaliate in order for him to have a reason to kill him, but Tanggol refused to grant his wish.
Rather than counterattacking, Tanggol tightly hugged Santino, which made it difficult for him to move. A heartwarming moment ensued between them, as Tanggol repeatedly apologized to him and pleaded for another chance to be a better brother. This gesture obviously stirred Santino’s emotions, reminding him of Marites’ advice to open his heart to forgiveness and his kuya, as well as the fondest memories he got to share with him and the loving words he had received from him.
Santino subsequently reciprocated his brother’s embrace and conveyed his remorse and love for him. He was then reminded that they were actually in the midst of a setup, with members of the Quiapo Police led by Rigor (John Estrada) positioned around the area, waiting for the right moment to kill Tanggol. Santino immediately warned his brother and urged him to leave before it was too late.
As Santino saw that one of the officers was about to shoot Tanggol from behind, Santino quickly grabbed his brother’s gun and fired at the officer. At the same time, Rigor pulled the trigger and accidentally shot Santino in the back as he shielded Tanggol from the bullet, which shocked everyone. Santino managed to turn around and look in the direction of Rigor before falling to the ground, while Tanggol—consumed by rage—fired his gun repeatedly.
