They say a dream comes true when you’re finally ready. For Christian Tibayan and Arvery Lagoring, the road to "TNT Duets" victory was full of heartbreak and redirections. But with each failed attempt came more preparation, until one day, the stars aligned. A singing duo was born. And they became each other’s manifestation that dreams, even the long-delayed ones, still arrive right on time.

January 17, 2026 still feels surreal to the both of them. It was the day they won "TNT Duets 2" on "It's Showtime." Arvery still can’t believe how far they’ve come, grateful for the love that continues to pour in from supporters who had faith in their talent. The win feels even more heartwarming as people around them seem just as happy for them too—from staff to marshals and utility workers, everyone they see at the ABS-CBN compound.

As they were getting ready before this Kapamilya Chat interview, Christian found himself doing reality checks, “Parang hindi pa rin po nagsi-sink in sa amin ‘yung mga nangyayari… May sarili na po kaming dressing room. Tapos lagi ko siyang tinatanong, ‘Grabe naman nag-champion tayo?’ Parang hindi talaga kami makapaniwala na nangyayari po siya lahat,” he shares, still sounding half-amazed by their 'new normal.'

Christian has always known his dream was big—so big that it felt larger than life. Back in Zamboanga City, little Christian would tell his classmates, his church friends, and his family that one day, he’d make it to the music industry. So, he planned his whole life around it.

"Ginagalingan ko po talaga sa school noon kasi ang hinihingi ko pong reward sa parents ko, paliparin ako papuntang Manila. Kasi gusto ko po lagi mag-studio tour dito sa ABS-CBN no'ng bata pa po ako," he reveals. "So imagine from first year hanggang fourth year [high school], every summer vacation ko po, paliliparin nila ako tapos magho-hotel po ako sa malapit lang. So no'ng minsan, one week po ako nandito [sa Manila] tapos nag-studio tour ako [sa ABS-CBN] everyday."

That’s how much he wanted to be near his dream. He first joined "Idol Philippines" Season 2 in 2022 and realized the climb would be harder than he expected. Still, he kept showing up and never stopped believing.

But of course, for all the perseverance, there was also doubt. Arvery, who once tried her luck in “The Voice Teens” as well, remembers feeling like giving up when the weight of trying repeatedly became too heavy. But whenever quitting crossed her mind, the goal of helping her family financially, as well as her love for singing, would always pull her back.

Meanwhile, Christian gave himself one last shot at his dream—if "TNT Duets" didn’t work out, he was ready to walk away, "Kasi masakit po na paulit-ulit mag-try, tapos nakaka-frustrate din po siya."

Prior to "TNT Duets 2," they were previously part of multiple TNT seasons, with this being their third attempt. They joined "TNT The School Showdown," where Arvery advanced to Top 3; while Christian placed fourth, close enough to taste the coveted final medley round, but far enough to lose it. "Grabe 'yung frustration din, 'yung malulungkot ka talaga po 'pag ganoon," he recalls.

But even then, something inside him refused to let go, so he chose to come back to “TNT” and fully trust the process. "Feeling ko ito ‘yung 'pinakasinurender' ko na pagsali kay Lord din,” he says, adding that despite the fear, he felt a clear answer guiding him back, "Alam ko na ang sagot ni Lord sa pagbabalik ko, 'Hindi na kita pababalikin nang mag-isa. May kasama ka na para hindi ka na matatakot.'"

When asked what made them say yes again to joining “Tawag Ng Tanghalan,” Arvery says it wasn't a hard decision, as she was thrilled to experience sharing the stage with a singing partner. As Christian put, the spark of performing never waned. The nerves, the excitement, and even the fear of failing again were still there. But so was the joy. So was the growth. And so was the hope that maybe this time would be different.

Becoming OST Dreamers

As with most beautiful things, their pairing as OST Dreamers on "TNT Duets 2" simply aligned.

Since they had already crossed paths in "TNT The School Showdown," when Arvery received an invitation to join "TNT Duets 2" later on, she only thought of Christian as a potential singing partner. Meanwhile, Christian had already been reaching out to the "TNT" talent coordinators in hopes of another shot, "Nilalambing ko sila kasi gusto ko nga i-try pa." But he didn’t expect he'd be offered to return not as a soloist, but as a partner to Arvery, "Kasi request daw ni Arvery at ng family niya na ako daw talaga."

"So nu'ng nalaman ko 'yun, natakot ako nang kaunti. Kasi ako, personally, alam kong pangarap niya rin to." He cared too much about Arvery's dream that he felt worried, "Sabi ko, hala, baka ako 'yung maging dahilan [ng pagkatalo]. Baka matalo din siya kung 'di mag-work." But after encouragement from people who mattered, he said yes.

First shots aren't always magical, though. When they began rehearsing for their daily round performance, the chemistry didn’t click instantly.

“Parang hindi nag-work," recalls Christian. "Kasi parang nafi-feel namin na  mataas 'yung expectation sa amin. Kasi mga 'resbakers' na kami... 'Yung una naming stage rehearsals, parang hindi swak. Kasi ‘yung mga comments [ng staff], nakikita namin na parang hindi okay."

But maybe the timing really was divine. It just so happened that right when it was their turn to make their "TNT Duets 2" debut, the segment was put on pause to give way to “It’s Showtime's” weeklong anniversary special, giving them an additional week of practice.

They used that whole week to rehearse intensely and polish the song. The staff also encouraged them to bond more, which helped strengthen their dynamic as a duo. "[After that], parang may magic na kami. 'Pag magkatinginan kami, gets na namin. Hindi na kami kinakabahan po," shares Christian.

During the final round of the competition's 'Huling Tapatan' where the Top 3 duos performed their best piece, Christian and Arvery took on “Kapag Ako Ay Nagmahal," delivered with heart. They received a standing ovation from the judges mid-performance, and by the end of the round, earned an almost perfect combined hurados' score of 99.6%—exactly how Christian imagined.

"Grabe po talaga 'yung manifestation niya," shares Arvery. "Gusto niya po talaga na habang hindi pa kami natatapos kumanta, tumatayo na po 'yung mga hurado. Ganun talaga 'yung mina-manifest niya." Christian chimes in, "Isa po sa pinagpe-pray din namin 'yung sana makakuha kami ng 99 [na score]. Kaya nu'ng nangyari po siya, grabe, sobrang magical." He would also constantly remind Arvery not to entertain negative thoughts during the competition.

Dreaming Forward

Resilience became their daily discipline. So, to all other dreamers who’ve tried and failed, they'd say, “’Wag po talagang sumuko sa pangarap." As Arvery puts, "Kasi 'yung mga experiences n’yo, 'yun po 'yung dala-dala n'yo para maging better pa kayo.”

Knowing what it’s like to keep chasing a thing that doesn’t seem to want you back, Christian adds that some dreams take time and recovery, "Kung kailangan magpahinga muna, magpahinga muna. Take time to rest, to prepare again. Kasi dapat prepared ka mentally, spiritually, physically." In what was supposed to be his final try, he prayed, "Lord, kung para sa akin talaga ito, huwag Mo muna tanggalin 'yung desire sa heart ko... Pero 'pag hindi talaga para sa akin, after nito, ready na ako i-let go na siya, Lord."

It was a scary thing to consider that maybe this lifelong dream wasn’t his to keep, but he knew he had to make backup plans. "After po mag-New Year, ka-dinner ko po 'yung mga college close friends ko. Sabi ko sa kanila, 'Alam n'yo, pag hindi pa rin talaga, mag-a-abroad na yata ako, pupuntahan ko na Ate ko sa US.'" But one friend told him this would be his year, and somehow, his friend's affirmation was enough to keep him hopeful, "Pinanghawakan ko po lahat ng mga naniniwala po sa amin talaga."

Because sometimes, believing in yourself starts with knowing someone else believes in you.

As "TNT Duets 2," champions, Christian and Arvery took home a talent management contract from Star Magic, a recording deal with ABS-CBN Star Music, a trophy designed by Toym Imao, and ₱500,000 in cash. More than the prizes, they're looking forward to just doing what they love.

"Sobrang excited po kami sa mga ilalabas po na mga kanta para sa amin ng Star Music. A few days ago, kinausap na po nila kami. May ilalabas po silang mga songs for us... answered prayer din po 'yun sa amin," reveals Christian. They’re also set to perform on "ASAP" and in shows with fellow "TNT" artists.
