With how both of them are naturally funny, not to mention that they are also unashamed to be themselves and to make fun of themselves, followers of up-and-coming Cebuano content creator and singer Zeke Abella were certain that his interview with Melai Cantiveros in the ABS-CBN Studios online Bisaya talk show "Kuan On One" was indeed going to be lit and filled with laughter and good vibes.
And true enough, the two of them had a lighthearted and insightful conversation about his personal life, his being Bisaya, and his blossoming career as a content creator, singer, and brand endorser.
But aside from being loud and proud Visayans, as well as being effortlessly comedic and impressively perceptive, Kuantie Melai and Zeke actually have another common denominator—having imperfect teeth. And they exchanged stories about what happened to their pearly whites a few minutes into the interview.
It was Zeke first who imparted the history of his chipped front teeth. According to him, it happened when he tried to do a trick while riding his bike, which was going through a volleyball net.
While he was confident that he would be able to successfully do it since he’s good at biking, he accidentally hit the net, which made his teeth fall off. He tried to put it back, thinking that there was still hope, but it was already gone.
Kuantie Melai then took her turn in sharing the story of her chipped bottom lateral incisor, which used to be complete. She recounted that it got broken when she and her husband, Jason Francisco, were sliding in the swimming pool, with Jason in between her and their daughter Mela. She was actually hesitant for them to do it, but he assured her that it was going to be okay.
Unbeknownst to them, their journey sliding down would be fast, so she hit her mouth on something and tasted blood inside.
As she once again showed her broken tooth to Zeke, he commented, “Pero perfect match. Parang fill in the gap. Parang fill in the blanks,” to which both of them laugh.
