Patrick (Joshua Garcia) arrives at Mia (Anne Curtis)'s mansion to fetch his brother Matmat (Carlo Aquino). The scene turns into another argument as Mia insists he stay with her, reminding him that he owes her for saving his life when he almost drowned in the river when they were kids. She desperately asks if he truly has no feelings for her, but Patrick only says “thank you” and admits he cannot return her feelings, adding that if it were up to him, he wishes that moment had never happened.

Patrick stops mid-sentence, yet Mia knows he means he wishes he had never been saved so he wouldn’t be living the life he has now. Patrick is forced to leave and distance himself from Matmat after the latter becomes violent when he refuses to let him live with Mia and work for her. He also tears up the contract Matmat had signed for Mia.

Left on his own, Patrick recalls the painful memories from his childhood, particularly the time his mother Tess (Meryll Soriano) scolded him for leaving his brother to play boxing. Because he wasn’t there to watch over him, Matmat ended up getting beaten by bystanders. In his frustration, Patrick told Tess that he didn’t want to be his brother’s nanny because he has a life of his own, even wishing that Matmat would just die so he'd be free.

Yet when Matmat chased after him and stumbled, Patrick couldn’t help but comfort his 'manong.' Their playful chase led them to the river, where Matmat nearly drowned after going into the water to retrieve his toy. Watching from a distance was a young Mia, whispering to herself that she hopes Patrick would leave his drowning brother. For a moment, it seemed as though that was exactly what Patrick would do as he slowly walked away, remembering his own cruel words about wishing his brother dead. But he couldn't bring himself to follow through and ended up saving Matmat, putting himself in danger in the process. Unaware of what was happening around him, Matmat went home and left Patrick behind.

Patrick was saved from drowning when Mia came to his aid.
