It’s time once again for brothers Patrick (Joshua Garcia) and Matmat (Carlo Aquino) to uproot their lives in search of a new place to stay, and this time, they’ve chosen to return to their hometown in Maravida.
Patrick is seen walking alone through a wooded area, holding a small bouquet of flowers. He stops at the very spot where he and Matmat once found their mother’s lifeless body one stormy night. A flashback of that moment plays.
In the present, Patrick begins to speak as if his mom were still there, apologizing for taking so long to visit. He explains that he and Matmat have been moving from place to place, and whenever a kind soul would take them in, he would leave Matmat there for a while so he could find jobs and make ends meet. But they never stayed long. Every time the rainy season came around, they’d have to pack up and go again because that’s when Matmat’s fear of butterflies would always return, and with it, the memory of that night.
But this time, Patrick says, maybe things will be different. Maybe it’s time for Matmat to finally face the butterflies.
