After Mia (Anne Curtis) pushes Dennis (JV Kapunan) down the stairs, Patrick (Joshua Garcia) stays by her side. He reaches for her arm and demonstrates a therapeutic grounding technique known as the butterfly hug, where one crosses their arms over the chest, places the hands on the shoulders, and rhythmically taps the upper arms like fluttering wings, which he explains is often used to calm people in the middle of panic, anxiety, or trauma.
Mia suddenly wraps her arms around his nape, leans in close, and whispers that trauma should be faced head-on, not avoided or softened. The sound of rushing water and the intensity in Mia’s gaze jolt Patrick back to reality and he turns away from her. But Mia follows and insists that the butterfly hug only works when it’s done with him, thus he must become her safety net, and that’s why she needs him to stay.
When Patrick says he isn’t interested, Mia offers to hire him and even double his salary if that’s what it takes. However, Patrick tells her he hopes they never see each other again because unlike his patients who still have a chance to heal, Mia’s attitude is beyond any cure.
Stung by the rejection, Mia calls Patrick a coward and accuses him of running away from something deeper he refuses to face.
