From one international heartthrob to another, Akira Morishita of BGYO once again captured a lot of hearts with his transformation to Shawn Mendes—whom he claimed is one of his ultimate favorite artists—in the second night of the seventh round of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” aired on December 28.
For him to be able to provide a spot-on performance of “Treat You Better,” the Ace Idol underwent back-to-back mentoring sessions with resident coaches Klarisse de Guzman for voice and Nyoy Volante for movement. And he was able to somehow apply the tips they’d given him to his live presentation, which made some of the studio audience shriek in utter kilig because of how undeniably charming he was onstage.
While Akira did an impressive job, the members of the jury all agreed that they were able to feel and notice his jitters, which apparently held him back from doing what they expected him to do. Thus, they advised him to let go and be more confident since he already got talent, vigor, and charm that not a lot of people are blessed with, as well as telling him how much they believe that he could do and show more.
Since one of the things that the jury wished him to do was for him to “flirt” with the audience, hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario asked Akira to demonstrate how he would have done it—and he nailed it!
