It’s always easy for BGYO’s Akira Morishita to look handsome—no question about that! But for his third transformation on “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” the challenge was to sound handsome too, as he took on American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth, who’s known for his smooth falsettos.
“Challenge accepted,” Akira declared during his mentoring with the show's resident vocal coach Klarisse De Guzman. One more hurdle was that Charlie plays the piano, while Akira doesn’t, so movement coach Nyoy Volante taught him how to “look like” a pro behind the keys.
Come performance time, Akira nailed it. Klarisse, who also sat as one of the jurors, praised him, saying, “Never mo kami binigyan ng performance na hindi maganda.” Nyoy said he simply enjoyed watching, while Ogie Alcasid commented that Akira seemed to be heading toward his breakthrough performance.
Since he sang “One Call Away,” the cast ended up acting out a hilarious call center skit, with Akira as the agent, of course. Klarisse played the stressed-out mom with internet problems, while Rufa Mae Quinto’s confusing call had everyone in stitches.
