After unleashing the strong, independent woman in her in the Week 3 of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” through her impressive performance of the chart-topping song “Flowers” by American singer-songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus, Rufa Mae Quinto went on to show us a totally different side of her we didn’t know she has, as she stepped into the shoes of Moira Dela Torre for Week 4.
And since they’re completely different from one another—from the way they speak and behave to how they present themselves—her transformation for this week apparently imposed a huge challenge not just for the Comedy Bombshell, but also for the show’s in-house mentors, Klarisse de Guzman and Nyoy Volante.
During their vocal training, Klarisse advised Rufa Mae that for her to be able to copy the melancholic voice of the OPM hugot hitmaker, she may imagine herself being sleepy and lazy while singing. Meanwhile, movement coach Nyoy reminded her how Moira’s gestures—including her blinks and smiles—onstage are as smooth, relaxed, and graceful as her voice, so she really needed to exert extra effort in controlling herself.
“Excited ako dito dahil iba. Baka naman mapansin ‘yong boses ko na rin. Mas feel na feel ko. Kumbaga mas serious,” the seasoned comedienne conveyed.
